Preface of Top Ten Business Startup Stories in China

从全球来看，各国政府都非常重视创新创业，特别是在发达国家，研发投入占GDP的比重一直保持上升势头。而中国在这方面的表现尤其明显，且取得了很大的成绩。2013年，中国的研发投入占GDP比重达到2%，这个占世界1/5人口的经济大国成为创新型国家，迈进了创新驱动发展的时代。

At present, world governments are paying close attention to innovation and entrepreneurship, especially in developed countries where the proportion of R&D investment in GDP is constantly increasing. In this respect, China has an outstanding performance and has made great achievements. In 2013, the proportion of R&D investment in GDP of China reached 2%, indicating that this economic giant, with 1/5 population of the world, had become an innovative country and entered into an age of innovation driven development.  

在这个时代里，创新的主体变成了企业，而企业开始从个人的创造力、技能和天分中获取发展动力，通过对知识产权的开发可创造潜在财富。

In this age of innovation, enterprises have become the major performers and have started to obtain motive power from personal creativity, skills and talents and the creation of wealth from intellectual property development.

在这一背景下，中国的创新创业热潮有4个鲜明的特征。

In this context, the tide of innovation and entrepreneurship in China has four distinct characteristics.

第一，新技术推动，机器人、智能制造、新材料以及VR、AR等领域的创业公司不断涌现；第二，新业态出现，分享经济、社群经济、互联网+等成为资本市场追逐的热点；第三，新教育出现，教育的理念、方式以及具体的方法也都发生了变化；第四，新增长，生产型创业企业的增多，创造了新的价值和新的市场。

Firstly, driven by new technologies, more and more startup companies in such fields as robotics, intelligent manufacturing, new materials, virtual reality (VR), and augmented Reality (AR) have appeared; Secondly, new business formats such as  sharing economy, community economy and Internet+ have emerged to become hot spots in the capital market; Thirdly, new education has presented itself, with changes in educational concepts, approaches and methods; Fourthly, there are more and more production oriented enterprises, which have created new values and new markets.

这些特征，在本书分享的10个创业故事中得以体现。在此之外，故事中，每一位创业者在创业中所展现出来的精神和信念也非常值得称道。

These characteristics are reflected in the 10 business startup stories shared in this book in the telling of which each entrepreneur shares their meritorious spirit and beliefs during the business startup process.

我们经常说，创业文化是不怕失败，宽容失败。我想，创业文化应该比这个概念还要宽泛，比如敢于标新立异、有开拓精神、愿意合作、跨界融合。我在这10位创业者身上看到了这些品质，也希望这些品质，被更多的人看到、坚持和倡导。

It is often said that entrepreneurship culture is never being afraid of failure and with a high tolerance of failure. I think entrepreneurship culture should be wider than this concept, for example bravely starting new things, a pioneering spirit, cooperation intention, and cross-field integration. I see these features and merits in the 10 entrepreneurs introduced in this book, and I hope that they can be seen, advocated and followed by more people.

归根结底，创造新的价值，而不仅是价值转移；创造新的市场，而不是新的市场分配，中国和世界都更加需要这样的创业公司和创业文化。

Ultimately, creating new value is not only transferring value, and creating new markets is not new market distribution. Both China and the whole world need such startup companies and entrepreneurship culture.
